“We going for another rapid fire?” Ruby groans.
“Yes, just one more and we should be done,” you reply. You glance behind you and see the smoke starting to dissipate already.
“Unfortunately, we can’t use Willie Pete smoke,” Leo sighs wistfully. “Those would burn forever.”
“Maybe there’s a reason we can’t fire white phosphorus around,” Max snarks.
“Ready!” Ruby cries.
“Hit them when ready,” you order, attention instantly back on the fleeing tanks. Unfortunately, they’re not stupid enough to all be facing in the direction of travel given the threat is coming from you and Erika pushing them in. Fortunately, the Flag tank is faster than its escorts, quickly creating distance, and with distance, comes the ability to slip a shot though.
“First shot! KV-2! One thousand two hundred meters!” You order. Ruby rapidly adjusts the gun, turret whirring as she does.
“On the way!” Ruby cries.
The HVAP shell whistles through the air far more obnoxiously than its AP cousin and slams into the KV-2. It detonates against the carbon, and Axel is already loading another one.
Unfortunately, the KV-2 crew seems to be on the ball today, and not a second later, a shell roars out towards you. As the massive shell detonates against your front plate, you idly muse that that’s the first time you’ve seen the KV-2 even hit something. The thought is squashed, as are you against your cupola as the shockwave from the massive explosion rocks your tank.
You’re left dazed for a moment, and slowly recollect yourself.
“Are we still in action?” Ruby groans.
There’s a pang of annoyance from Werewolf at that, as if offended by the idea that a tank like that could take him out action.
“Guess that answers that!” Max guffaws as he feels it as well.
“Axel, get the next shot up!” You order. The KV-2 is still trundling backwards, covering the T-34-85 which is moving south fast.
“We see them!” Crows Noriko out of nowhere.
“On the way!”
You fire at roughly the same time as the trio of tanks to the south. The HVAP screams through the air again, causing the KV-2 to stop dead in its tracks. The T-34 appears from behind it, only to crash into a tree as the white flag pops out the top.
“That’s it,” you sigh as you rest against the hatch. “Miho got them.”
