They’re silent for a few moments before Fisher shakes his head. “Why do you and the Commander have to make so much sense? Fine. I’ll stay. Can’t just let the seppies get away with it. I’ll stick with the regiment, Sulla.” He offers his hand, and you grip it firmly in a tight shake.
Yegor turns his head to Fisher. “Well, dammit. If you’re sticking around, then I guess I have to as well. Wouldn’t be proper to deprive the regiment of an entire company. And no matter what, we’re brothers. We’ll fight and die together.”
He gives you a smile, and shakes your hand too. You’ve done it. The 451st will operate at full strength, at least for now. You’re not sure what the future holds, but at least you know that you’ll be fighting with men you trust. You suppose, given the situation, you couldn’t ask for anything more.
You nod, and thank them. You weren’t sure if they’d really listen to you. Together, you all walk back to the holotable where Commander Fabian and Shade are deep in thought.
>Commanders Sulla, Fisher, and Yegor, reporting for duty, sir!
Each of you snap a salute. Fabian looks up at you, a surprised look visible in his tired eyes. He looks at each of you, and his eyes widen when he realises it’s true. The Regiment is whole. He smiles. “Thank you. Every one of you.” He straightens up and returns the salute. Commander Shade just looks directly at you and nods, once.
Commander Fabian continues. “Now that we are all together, the briefing will begin.” He pushes some buttons on the holotable, and the display zooms in to a small valley, with a number of small square buildings surrounding a square central building, built into the floor of the valley.
“This is our objective. Away from the bridge cities, where the majority of our… operations are being undertaken, this vallet is the location of one of the Neimoidian treasure vaults. Within, it holds a significant part of the treasure the Neimoidians have gathered and hoarded over the long years, and we are going to seize it from them. This is the mission.”
