"What do you do when we're not here? When no one's interacting with you?"
"I don't. I don't understand why you're asking. I sit in here. I wait." The android blankly stares at you as if you asked if the sky was purple. "That's all."
"That can't be it." Hidaka points at the anomaly with her pen. "You act just like a human. You have thoughts. You are intelligent, unlike SACA units. Should he repeat the question?"
"I understood the words he said and that it was a question." The android nervously shifts in its seat. It's clearly uncomfortable with this line of questioning. What is it hiding, you wonder?
"I would get bored being stuck in a cell like this." You pace around the cell, examining the various decorations you put up. "Nothing to do except stew in my thoughts. I'd probably daydream about something stupid to pass the time. I'm just wondering what you like to think about."
"Think? I. No, that's. Would you like some wine, sir? I know you've been using it to create some delectable meals." It abruptly changes the subject away from itself. "Who knows what the effects of that new wine I created could imbue into your meals?"
"We're not leaving. Until you answer." Hidaka scoffs at the anomaly's piss-poor attempt at deflection.
"Look. We want to have a solid working relationship with you. That means we have to trust each other, SOMMELIER." You do your best to offer a warm smile. "All I want is an answer. I'll take some wine from you soon enough, trust me."
"I just...need to confirm something. That's all."
>3 SUCCESSES!
It perks up when you tell it you'll talk about taking some wine from it. "I don't think about anything, sir." It answers truthfully. It simply shrugs as if the answer were obvious and you just somehow missed it.
"When you are not here, I do not feel the need to 'think' like you do. I am here to provide my wine and to offer relief to those who need it."
"You work as an employee for this facility, day in and day out, doing what you're expected to do without any complaint." The android tries its best to relate with you in its own way. "I do the same. I do what is expected of me. And like you, I try not to think too hard about anything."
"I'm happy with it, but I can tell neither of you are happy." Despite trying to put up a cheery front, there's a trace of something subtly odd with its tone, as if even talking about this feels weird to it.
"It's just an obligation." Hidaka dryly shares your sentiments when it comes to your job. "An obligation we're bound to. Being happy with that obligation is. Hard."
NOWHERE'S SOMMELIER nods, trying its best to relate with you. "That's why I don't think. I simply focus on offering a way out. In the end, there's only one escape from your woes."
A drop of wine leaks from its hose arm. "I can't fully understand why you aren't happy with your jobs. I'm happy with my job, and when I'm not doing it, why let inconsequential woes fill my mind? It doesn't matter, ultimately, does it?"
