Upwards and onwards.
The cobbled streets are definitely leading you upward to the highest point of the city. The steps have worn spots that sink deeply into the stone from the passage of many feet. Just how old is this place? The stairs lead up to the tenshu donjon and you are impressed by its sheer size. This thing must be bigger than Osaka Castle. The sheer whiteness of what is left of the edifice reminds you of Himeji Castle. It seems that whoever constructed this place wanted the purity of white to burn into the eyes of all who see it.
Beauty, however, doesn't change the fact that it is an absolute dump. Can a person even live here? The roof is gone in most places, and even with an intact roof, rain easily gets in through various cracks and open windows. They take you to the driest room in the place, and even that is pretty rough and uncomfortable.
"Please rest here, your Majesty. Thy servants will do what they can to make you comfortable." The little goat men start bustling about to start a fire and other sundry things. A few try to put up boards to block out the rain; others set down dry, sweet-smelling boughs of evergreen on the floor as a bed; and still others take your backpack and lay out everything in it to dry.
Somehow, these strange beings even find a rough hewn round table and chair. You sit down heavily on the chair and try to get comfortable. Throughout all this time, you don't see Agrestes at all. You have a notion that talking to the stone man would be a more profitable course of action. Exhaustion is creeping up on you and tempting you to sleep.
"Agrestes? I would like to speak with you," you call out, hoping that the strange stone man can hear you.
"Would like to speak with me? How unusual, King; most demand that I go to them." You hear the voice of the gatekeeper and then see his face form out of the very stones of your room. It's eerie to watch the rocks meld and morph into a face, though you control your surprise at the sight.
"Well, Agrestes, you aren't anything like these servants. I assume you have a different duty than them," you wave your hands at the bustling goat men who fuss and clean the room that apparently is now your residence in this ruined castle. You can't help but be deadpan at the idea that you can order around the stone man. Agrestes acts too formidably and independently. If you read him right, you doubt you could force him to obey your orders at all.
"Tis true; I shall be thy Herald to announce anyone who approaches Camelot. My voice shall carry all the way to your ears no matter where you are, should a Knight or King challenge your right to rule the city. If you should refuse the challenge... Then you are not fit to be the King of Camelot," Agrestes gives a smile as he explains.
