Of the three asking to join your party; you accept two on your next treasure-hunting expedition. The first is the Snail which you knew from last year; the local strongman who acted as a bit of muscle to intimidate any petty thieves and do work around the village. Strangely, he never seem to have told you a name- everyone just calls him "You" or "the Snail" and he doesn't seem to mind at all. While a bit mysterious, the snail-man seems to be a gentle giant. He does have a big sword, but no armor besides his shell, which gives you some pause.
The second newcomer is the Archivist. You later learn his name as Nasir. He's a bit of a small man, also unarmed, but seemingly skilled with his mind. Also being from the city, like Jon, means he seems more streetwise and less gullible then the other party members. You hope he can earn his keep despite his stature and overlap with Elly's ability as a healer...
The party readies for their next expedition. Patches says his armor has since rotted away since last year, and he has no means to replace it at the moment; but he has replaced his trust in the physical with a trust in the spiritual. Jon makes sure to buy some strong rope along with torches, food, bags, and other useful supplies. Elly has a nice larder to stock up her own medicinal herbs from living right here in the village; so soon enough everyone is ready.
