>>5643994“Succubus,” you address Irinnile, “protect my mate, if indeed this Elven Mystic means to harm her.”
Honestly, you’re not sure WHAT he intends. Can this ‘Nenaias’ even reach your beloved Eka, in her walled garden and surrounded by guards? I mean, YOU could, obviously, with your powerful magic and your divine mandate, but you are the DRAGONBORN ANTIPALADIN. This elf-man is, as the Paladin King’s sons refer to them, a mere itinerant wanderer, a vagrant with aspirations to false-knighthood, an ADVENTURER.
…But then, so is (was?) Yosef, yes? And so did these mammals define you, and underestimate you, at their great peril. And who else, EVER< ahs detected your use of <Guidance> against them in the wat that Nenaias did?
“What’ll you do, then?”
“The Grizzled Paladin is mine,” you say grimly. “Send Roth and Oluwadamialre to join me.”
“Uh, Grizzled?” irinnile asks with a snort of laughter.
“His fur is streaked with grey, yes?”
“Yeah, but it kinda’, like, translates all fucky. Makes it seem like you’re callin’ him, like, some kinda’ tough-guy or—”
“IRINNILE.”
“Right, right, on it!”
Irinnile at least doesn’t argue the point, even as you send her alone to face this magic-user; she salutes you with comically-poor form and rushes off, sword flashing, its luminous blade fading into black-of-knight as the Kinslayer leaves your Reptilian presence and escapes beyond the limited range of your darkvision. You suspect that she’s just glad to not be entering a nest of Paladins, which seem to give her particular pause.
Well, with any luck, you and your allies will be sufficient to deal with Chase’s threat swiftly. When this renegade Grizzled Paladin is sufficiently smote, then you and your Infiltrator allies may swiftly move to join Irinnile and render whatever aid she might require. With her own reserves fat with stolen lifeforce, and her beloved Green Knight’s martial ability and magic sword at her disposal, Irinnile might be enough to handle him on her own, anyway…
(Well, one can hope)
