“You can’t seriously be considering taking on a member of the Royal Family if…” Roselyn’s wily smirk slips as she catches her brother’s stubborn expression. “Reginae wept, you are serious.”
“Not in open warfare, obviously-”
“Oh wonderful!” Roselyn exclaims, palm to forehead.
“-I’m just saying that if Em is on the wrong side of… of whoever these Faction people are, we should do what we can to help.” Damien crosses his arms stubbornly, remembering it’s what Father would do whenever he was making a rare decision that Mother didn’t agree with. “We are family. And Right Makes Might.”
“If the Prince is as involved as we suspect then all the Right in the world isn’t going to…” Roselyn takes a deep breath, reminding herself that Mother is always calm even when she’s furious. “Look Damien, I think our family’s best approach is to steer well clear and focus on building up our power base. The surest way to not lose a game you don’t understand is to not play. Still, there’s also merit in being aware of the what game is actually being played, and what the stakes are. Just promise me you’ll talk this over with Mother and Father before doing anything rash.”
Damien nods, returning his gaze to the Romani coast and the farmer’s labouring there. “…I promise.”

>Sanctioned murders, secret battles in the forest, royal involvement. It’s all beyond you. Your first duty is to the safety of your land and the wellbeing of your people. Getting involved in this political conflict will only endanger that. What House Andrei needs now is to keep the greater plots at arm’s length, to work on solidifying local alliances and curtailing local threats. With Emile on pilgrimage the direct threat to him is minimal and those involved would have no discernible reason to interfere with House Andrei. [Humble]
>You need to know what you’re dealing with. Most Houses seem ignorant of the struggle, or at least they far underestimate its scope. Emile has contacts within the Ordo Reginate, ironic given their pursuit of you. Touching base with them and convincing Mother to reach out to her own contacts and turn her attention to the nature of the game being played may be prudent. Asking questions may draw attention, but attention in and of itself is unlikely to directly threaten House Andrei. [Hearty]
>Whatever the sides of this secret war are, whatever the stakes, you do not believe that your brother is on the wrong side of it. You will try to convince your family to use whatever resources you have at your disposal to lend him aid, whether that be information collection and sharing or even direct interference with those that mean him ill. Those involved may react, but if they move against Emile or House Andrei you will be ready. [Idealist]
