The first thing that the Legion of Silence did when they arrived at the Magma City was begin preparing for the siege that was to come. Such logic was simple because the Magma City was a deathtrap that no one wished to embark themselves upon. When death came for the fortress, then unless control was stolen then the Heretek Koriel Zeth would simply bring the Magma City down upon itself.
So they began the preparations for what will be the Siege.
The Magma City was linked to the rest of Mars through a single bridge. Such a piece of capital was easily a chokepoint for those defending that it would lead to the slaughter of hundreds who would assault their Bastion. Not even Transhumans were immune to such a risk as the Mechanicum held plenty of weapons that would humble the Astartes battleplate.
On the otherhand though it also meant the Magma City can only perform a breakout in one direction. They would simply surge forward from their gates now only to be met with a wall of rockcrete that was inlaid with the steel of those who had fallen fighting against the heresy.
There were two other ways that the Magma City might have been able to perform a breakout. A series of fliers could throw themselves into the sky and try to escape to the skies. Another group might instead try their luck with the earth, throwing themselves between the Magma City into the Martian Stone in an attempt to create an escape. Both of these were simply defeated by setting anti-air defenses looking both in the skies and towards the gap between the two masses of earth that a floating mass like the Magma City would create.
With these measures the Hereteks of the Magma City were trapped with no way to escape. They had no clear method of leaving and thus were faced with the starvation and chaos that now infested their city.
The Omnissiah, who could scarcely see every part of the galaxy, knew that Chaos was always on the offensive because they needed to be. The moment when they were trapped, retrospection quickly came and everyone soon would see each other as the enemy.
So the Siege, as long as they held their ground. But their time was not limitless and the forces of the Mechanicum was quickly drawing themselves together in another attempt to destroy Particep Semper and its followers. The Omnissiah wondered, for he did not know which path reality would take, if they would gather enough forces together to break the siege created by the Loyalists of the Adeptus Mechanicus.
What the Omnissiah knew was that someone had taken notice of his siege and decided that now was the moment to make his contact.
