There was already plenty to see here. And the fact that market stands existed in this place at all piqued your interest. "Let's browse the stalls. They look pretty interesting..."
Before you'd finished, you were already off to look at one with a green roof. It was being manned by a Sudowoodo and his Bonsly kid. There were small pots lined up at the front, but you couldn't make out what they were.
Erna followed behind you without saying a word. Maybe she was looking around or something.
"Hey hey hey! Welcome to Bud's Berries! It's nice t' see you, new kid!" The Sudowoodo leaned over the stall and winked, his kid jumping up and smiling at you. His three-fingered hand soon passed across the stall top. "We've got Oran, Oren, Cheri, Rawst- all that you could ever need t' start your own li'l farm!"
Hah, he was pretty charismatic. You couldn't help but smile back to the guy, even as your attention drifted back to the berries. Oran, Oren, Cheri, Rawst. You recognized those names, you knew those berries. So this world was more familiar than not... though, Oren?
You found yourself fixating on the pot Bud had described as such. A small chartreuse vine was clinging to a small branch, on which were some yellow flowers with a white center. Very similar to an Oran plant, but not the same. That vine definitely wasn't supposed to be as yellow as it was. "...excuse me, sir. What's an Oren?"
Was this guy renaming an Oran gone bad to make more money? Hm...
"Oh, I'll be more than happy t' answer that for you!" The Sudowoodo put his hands together. "An Oren is a neat little berry that looks like an Oran, but it's got the opposite effect! Y' know how you eat an Oran to get healthy? Well, this li'l guy actually hurts you instead!"
Eugh, what? That sounded awful! You recoiled appropraitely, which elicited a laugh from the shopkeep. Creepy. "Aw, don't react like that! I've heard it helps some mon. It can make for good stress relief, y'know. Some fighters even use it to activate their abilities. Why, I once had a Silicobra pass through here and have a taste, and he bought a plant right off me once..."
The rest of the shopkeep's spiel faded from your senses as you heard something from behind. Something rather familiar.
"HEY, INDIE?"
Erna? Wait, why was she all the way over there? Hold on-
You swiveled back to the stall owner, who was still going on about Oren berries. Something about sandstorms and spitting up- wow, he had some problems. Whatever Erna was talking about clearly took precedence over that.
Without another word you turned around and headed over to the Buneary-
-only to be immediately tripped.
"Ugh..."
