>>6137019>“I understood every word of it.” You tell Cassius. “Even if some parts didn’t exactly make much sense. So this “Sorcerer King” just suddenly appeared one day on a ship that could fly? I’ve never heard of such a thing before, but surely it would make quite the sight. So, tell me, where is this ship now? Was the Sorcerer King the only one on it?”“Great question!” Cassius says. “You have no idea how thrilled I am to hear you taking an interest in Morfisian history. There were in fact four others alongside the Sorcerer King when he arrived before the various desert tribes. They were his Apostles. They shared the same blood as him, and also helped with building the city of Morfis. They too fought Leviathan, and fell in battle against the serpent and his minions. However, just like the Sorcerer King, they had intermingled with Morfisians, and their bloodline persists to this day. Their descendants are the current Four Royal Sages, and they are second only to Princess Yulia, who possesses the blood of Xenophanes.”
>“Xenophanes?”“Ahh, forgive me. That is the Sorcerer King’s true name.”
>“So where’s the ship?”“No one knows.” Cassius shrugs. “It is one of our country’s great mysteries. Some believe it is buried far beneath the desert sands, lost during the war. Others believe it is underneath Tartarus itself. However preposterous it may sound though, the ship simply vanished one day, never to be seen again.”
>“Can’t someone just walk into Tartarus and check for themselves?”“Tartarus is locked by unknown means. In thousands of years, no one has ever figured out how to enter. We believe that this was by the Sorcerer King’s design. Through perhaps some sort of sorcery, the walls of Tartarus are indestructible, not that anyone would ever dream to break in and desecrate that sacred place. It is commonly believed that the door will only open one way, and that is when the Sorcerer King wills it to open.”
That wasn’t exactly a satisfying answer. If there was a flying ship you had hoped to see it for yourself. You weren’t sure what to make of these people’s history. Frankly, it made Fodlan’s own origin story seem rather mundane in comparison. In the beginning there was darkness, and then the Goddess created everything shortly thereafter. There were no mythical dragons or Sorcerer Kings to speak of so far as the Church of Seiros told things.
If you had any further questions for Cassius, they are interrupted by the sudden realization that the wind you’d been feeling all this time had stopped. You look up to find that the sandstorm surrounding Ithaca was dissipating. In its place, you spotted several tiny houses and tents set up in the distance, all of which were surrounding what looked to be a large stone keep.
