Some entities and items may be killed or instantly destroyed by the apotropaic gaze, others are strengthened by your look of fear and horror when they are revealed. You will not necessarily see the truth but instead something that hints as to its nature. Eg a person who is lying to you may appear as if they have a snake coiled about their neck etc.
