After a long, tense moment of silence, he started to walk around the table, and towards you. You felt Ben and Ana stiffen beside you, and your sentient outfit began to coil itself around your body, ready to attack if need be.
“Hmph. Is this supposed to be the Big Bad Slayer that you were all so afraid of? I've seen enough.”
His voice was a rumbling and resounding echo in his helmet, and it felt like it had shaken you to your very core. But instead of engaging you in conversation or combat, the giant Hulk turned, and walked out the door, his every footfall sending tiny tremors throughout the room.
Everyone stared at him as he left. Ana looked even more put out, and Ben looked like he was struggling to hold back his laughter.
No one spoke for a full minute after the Green Knight departed, but everyone on the council acted as if this was entirely normal. Was the council always this disorganized?
“I guess we know she's not a Gamma Beast.” the Nosferatu man murmured.
“No. She's a Kumiho, I think.” said his twin. “And a rather strange one at that.”
“You hold meetings inside of a giant Grootslang skeleton, and I'm the weird one?”
Delphyne let out a brief, mocking laugh before going back to her phone. Everyone looked at her, and then away.
“Not many know the names of these beasts.” Carnelian said, his voice coming out as a low snarl, but not an unfriendly one, you thought.
“I also know a bit about Weres, Councilman Carnelian. And I think me and you share some of the same problems.”
Carnelian leaned a bit closer in his seat, that glowing green eye of his scrutinizing you in a way that you weren't entirely comfortable with.
“Hmmm. Oh, yes. There is something inside of you.” he noticed. “As well as something…outside.”
Mercy’s shiver sent a ripple through your clothes that you hoped no one noticed.
“We should talk after this meeting.” you insisted, introducing some confidence back into your voice.
Carnelian nodded, his interest piqued.
Sweet! That’s your secondary objective down. Now all you had to do was convince the rest of these guys to leave you alone.
“Alright, then! Now, I'm gonna need the rest of you guys to tell me about your defenses, the city's general layout, and list of all its vulnerabilities.” you demanded.
The Nosferatu twins exchanged worried glances, and Delphyne stopped tapping away at her phone to look up at you.
“...Why?” the Nosferatu girl finally asked.
“Why else? I can't conquer you guys if I don't know all this stuff, and I've got a busy schedule, so can we hurry this up? I've got a village to pillage at 8.”
Everyone froze, and the room went dead silent. You let the silence hang for a moment, and then burst out into laughter.
“Come on, guys. I'm kidding! Do I look like the type of person who would do any of that?”
