>>5291378“Heh. But no, not after Father was through with his....Reeducation.” the emperor says, his implications giving you a shiver up your spine you try to avoid showing. “And I doubt it to be Arctus or Father either. He may be a useless drunk, but Arctus doesn't enjoy conflict. It's one of the reasons he started drinking. Father wouldn't pointlessly extend this as some sort of training exercise either, not with the damage they've done. With the war over, his focus is now exclusively on hunting down that wizard Babidi and ensuring that Majin Buu remains sealed away forever. No, it must be someone on either my ship, or my brother's stealing this information and somehow transmitting it to the enemy undetected.”
Which all made sense to you, if it wasn't them then it would have to be someone else. But you didn't see how that was YOUR problem yet.
“And this is where you come in.” he'd said. “With your particular skill set, I want you watching over this room tonight. With your telepathy let me know immediately the instant you see , and do your best to apprehend them until I arrive.”
“Wait, you want me to stop them?” you'd asked, shocked. “You do know my powerlevel is nothing compared to even your soldiers, right?”
“I don't want you to fight them.” he says, sounding far too confident in your abilities. “But with your stealth skills able to hide from both my scouter and ki sense, you'll be able to avoid the notice of any of my subordinates. Now, any questions?”
“This sucks.” you mutter, shivering a bit and clutching your cloak a bit tighter around you. It's been hours now since the lights have gone off, your Lurk having remained activated this entire time. It's lonely, boring work, but you'll take it like this over yet another life-or-death struggle. But nothing passes the time quite like complaining. “I almost wish something interesting would happen.”
Which is, of course, when the only doorway suddenly opens. Because of course it would. You'd think after this much time, you would have learned not to raise flags like this.
“Gotta move quick.” you hear the figure mutter, not turning the lights on and walking directly over to the emperor's private terminal. They don't even look around, clearly confident that the room's empty. “Those newcomers could be trouble.”
The sneak's voice is unfamiliar, which means it's not Zarbon, Dodoria, or one of the Ginyu Force. So a normal soldier then. Which is good news, and this one probably can't blitz you before you can blink the instant you move. You won't be able to beat them in a fight, but should be able to subdue them long enough for Freeza to arrive and take care of them. Probably. Hopefully.
