>>6001099Uh, no, you are not screwed out of them entirely. That was merely a gauge of whether or not you would accept such things out of hand. It was a measure of Fiona's character. Whether or not you accept them in sincerity so quickly.
There have always been a couple "tiers" of Level 2 Stormwatch Agents - for reasons you have yet to be made distinctly aware of, and that will unanimously complicate your path to becoming a L3 Stormwatch Agent. For you in practice, you still have a multitude of skills you can learn - for investigation and for combat - along the journey to making the final step to becoming an L3 Agent. Some people spend years as an L2 Agent, unable to achieve the last realization. Some only take a few months, so dedicated to their commitment. Famously, Miss Katriina Jousten, the Black Swan and Director of the Stormwatch, spent two years as a L2 Agent, and in her naivety endeavored on many missions on her own with lower leveled agents. On one such mission, she finally achieved Level 3, all she ever wanted, without endeavoring in any odd supernatural threads.
It will not be simply leading a singular successful mission on your own jurisdiction. Your journey is not a linear path of following orders - the promotion to L3 requires ambition on your part. Such ideas is why you had the plan to form this expedition to begin with.
And, well, you still have the capability to detect anything outside of the normal - it just requires something above the normal kind of roll in order to detect. If you had resigned yourself to either the Esoterica, the Holy, or the Arcane, you might notice one or the other more plainly, but as a group you all have chosen to be without it. There are things around Helsinki to detect, and tutors around the Stormwatch who may yet introduce you to these concepts you have not chosen so recklessly to join - though now that you've chosen none of them, you may not immediately grasp hold of it. The necessary tutors are still around, willing to guide you. They always have been, even before they were offered to you in fancy titles. I will remind you that the three things you speak of are
>Esoterica • Fully devote yourself to Jousten's creations, and all that may come with it. Naturally, you have working competence with most technology, even those which you are unfamiliar.>Holy • Become a student to divine powers, and all that may come with it. Naturally, you are able to identify someone's mental status and potential for hostility.>Arcane • Become a student to supernatural forces. Naturally, you can make heads or tails of the most confounding of aberrations, perceiving reality in ways others cannot. If you are interested in any of these things, you have to pursue those social strings on your own, now that you've not chosen them at level up. Perhaps, getting into any of these things would be getting in too deep. You only need to reach Level 3 to reach your goals...
... Unless you want to see where the rabbit holes go.
