The place was lit with a calming blue light with dozens of other fixtures about the place. Many pieces of technology that might have previously meant to sustain light down here died due to the universal decay of atoms.
When the Astartes hit the floor of the bunker they quickly started to fan out. Each one careful with their step for one false step would lead them into ruin or destroy something that was of immense value. It was a simple fact that even the most minor of items from the Dark Age of Technology would have value if they were recovered in pristine conditions.
Being an underground fortress, the chances were much higher that they were of that condition.
Positions were taken and the Acillian took his steps to begin the scanning of the environment. Lorch, for a rare moment, was able to look over his brother’s shoulder to see the runes dancing across the screen. Some the Astartes did recognize but many others were gravely foriegn to him. It was a travesty that he would need to remedy as he recognized that having such information was too vital to not employ.
“Confirmation of defenses, two turrets at the end of the hall.” He announced while pointing them out with icon runes upon the display of the Astartes helm, “Magos Dominus, what do you desire for those defenses?”
+You will keep your weapons trained upon them but not to fire. There is a Spirit within the facility that has deactivated itself to reduce the chance of error. It will activate when hostile action is taken.+
Lorch had to ask as he felt himself wondering for so long, “What are the chances that it is an AI?”
+67%.+ The Tech Priest barked with what might have been barely held disdain, +I was able to avoid its activation by removing its monitoring wire from the door. From hence onward, engage in either Noospheric communication or secured coms lest it hears us.+
+Understood.+ Lorch felt a moment of ignorance wash over him before he spoke, “Attention team, use low frequency short range vox. Make sure suits are set to vacuum. We are to minimize noise both vocal and radio.”
With those words he watched as the Astartes each gave the Captain nods. That was good, the more caution they placed into this the more likely they were to survive this incursion into this Fortress.
