“I… think I understand.” Lucian said as he gave a nod to the Dwarf, “Its not something you can really tell anyone you meet. As your Father is a… Runelord, I take it your goal doesn’t involve the greatest drink?”
“Aye, it's not.” The Dwarf gave a subtle laugh as he heard those words from the Knight, “I swore to my Father that there are Runes out there beyond the halls of the Mountainhome. That the future of the Runesmiths is not losing a Rune every century because the one who wielded it died but instead finding the Rune just as Thungi had!”
“You’re losing Runes?” Lucian asked to confirm, knowing it was not even the greatest of points the Dwarf wanted to point out.
“Ah, yes, yes!” He gave a laugh as those words escaped his mouth, “The craft of Runes is passed down from generation to generation of Thungi’s children. We are heirs to his knowledge and blood that allows us Dwarfs to work it. However unlike my Ancestor God, we can only learn so many Runes in our lifetime. So, if a Keep holding a specific tradition of Runes is lost then that is an entire row of power and meaning lost!”
“I see… I think.” Lucian claimed as he tried to set things within his mind, “So no one has discovered any Runes since… Thungi right?”
“Aye, it was Thungi who taught his dozen sons how to shape rock and metal into what we know as Runes today. These Clans are not as mountainous as they once were, the Clan Fireskin being a mix between three of Thungi’s sons.” Adok said as if such a matter was equal impart to Lucian’s understanding of his quest than the origin of their art, “Thungi found the Runes during the time the Old World was young, learning their secrets so that his children could use them against those who will magic against us.”
“So thats why the Dwarfs have never gotten a new Rune, because they all come from Thungi? Would it be Heresy to try and find them?”
“Its not Heresy, not like you Umgi think it.” Adok said as he gave a small chuckle, “But my own Father called me stupid and a fool for trying it.”
