>MAPHEAD>WEATHER EYEI remember this bizarre series of books which we had to read in school. I don't remember anything about the plot but I remember the book cover featured some person with a bald head, I was really shocked by this as a child. Also there was something about them possessing metal implants in their head, being able to bring up electronic maps or something. There was some other book by this author about wind farms, or climate change, we all agreed that it was the stupidest science fiction idea we had ever heard, and would never ever happen.

In the first book, he is twelve and has come to meet his human mother for the first time. In the second, he is a little older and plays a vital role in helping Jack Stamp and his family. These best-selling and highly acclaimed novels can now be owned together for the very first time in an attractive, top-value bind-up.;Winner of the WH Smith Mind-Boggling Books Award. Also Highly Commended for the Carnegie Award and shortlisted for the 1995 Young Telegraph Book of the Year. In terms of fantasy there were authors like Alan Garner or Susan Cooper, they wrote a lot of children's novels set in British or Welsh folklore, but I never read much of them. A series I do remember reading was this the Magician's Quartet, this was what fantasy was like before Harry Potter
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Magician%27s_HouseA lot of children also read Enid Blyton, I read a few but they followed a very strict formula Famous Five, Secret Seven etc. Nowadays she would probably raise a few gasps due to certain colonial perspectives and shocking gender portrayals lol
Needless to say, if I had the choice lol nearly any modern fantasy fiction is better than any of this, the fiction back then was NOT GOOD, we have so much available now for entertainment whether it is videogames or films or novels or internet etc, just about everything is better
