Sometime later, after Hale had congratulated Catastrovania and welcomed her personally to the team, I decided it was time to give the Psyops an actual structure. Forming the command chain would help coordinate the different facilities we needed to get this machine moving, and fire up the pistons to work.
I sat down with Hale in his office back above ground in the Felwischer factory where he began clearing a board with a brush, whilst Catastrovania sat beside me in front of his desk, drinking some carbonated beverage and watching the next episode of Super Robot Adventure 3 on her flip phone.
Hale scribbled away with his marker at the board near the wall. I had asked him to help me a little, and give me his opinions on what the structure should be like.
[HALE] "Now, I've never served in any military roles in my life... Mm. But, I have read a lot of novels in my spare time, mostly speculative writings, philosophy, and military fiction. Eheh. Sometimes, I watch it on the telly as well."
He was writing down boxes and names in them.
[HALE] "Annnnd done."
'Ah.'
I stood up and came over, looking over the board. Despite primarily being a businessman and entrepreneur, Hale had made a comprehensive structure for me. At the top, I was there. The 'Divine Director'. He pointed at the boxes with his marker.
[HALE] "Now you're obviously in charge. You have absolute command and decide everything. Below you, I'd like to be your Deputy Director. A fancy way for saying, second in command. I'll be the one reporting things to you, and carrying out your instructions to the lower tier here. Now, you wanted to subdivide the overall organization into these departments. We have a department for Intelligence, obviously, that's what Catastrovania is in charge of. A department for warfare, a department here for the bunker, and any future installations provided we gain the resources needed."
[HALE] "And I feel this is a given, but a research and development department to keep us ahead in the game. Our enemies are more advanced than us for the time being... and wield paranormal powers that normal people just won't be able to handle. But, like the Woldorians, who are mundane in every fashion, we'll come up with ways."
It was a good point. A clandestine function like ours would need to output countermeasures against the horrors of the Afterseas, and the powers of Immortals.
