As it turns out, the little man, who you are calling a <span class="mu-i"><span class="mu-s">Pikmin</span></span>, isn't a predator. If anything, it seems to want to <span class="mu-i">help you</span>. Perhaps your space suit's antennae and similar size make it think you are one of their own kind?
After a few minutes of practice- you manage to get the creature to follow some basic command via your space whistle. And a few moments later, you find out what this creature uses as a sort of shelter...
It's like a great red onion, though to you it looks like a <span class="mu-i">spaceship</span>. It has a mix of biological and technological components, and seems strangely linked to the Pikmin before you. Using the pikmin to help fix up your ship- you realize pretty soon just one Pikmin, though it does help your lonliness, will in no way be enough for you to survive. Fortunately, when by chance the Pikmin finds a large pellet fallen from one of the tall flowers around the crash site, it takes it back to the onion and in a moment, two seeds eject from the ship. After a short while, they sprout and you pull them up- resulting in two new pikmin!
Fascinating. It seems this onion is both a ship and shelter of some kind, as well as part of an important role in reproduction. Perhaps the pikmin themselves are merely like its appendages, receiving nutrients directly from the onion... or they are born with all the energy they need and are merely left to die when it runs out. How cruel...
Soon enough, a squad of Pikmin has been born! With them, you think you just might have a chance to survive! According to your readings, you think there is probably a part close by, but there is also safety in numbers- you could grow your army to a safe number, since judging by the size of the plants here some creatures may be <span class="mu-i">much</span> bigger then you and the pikmin. Spending some time learning about Pikmin and knowing what they can do may also be a good idea.
