It was the second to last nights when the Kroxigor took notice of something. Lucian was working with Bok trying to get him to wield a properly sized tree as a stick when he heard the monster take in a deep breath. He knew that even from times before now, when the Kroxigor was looking for a scent.
Now he had experience with it.
“Beastmen?” He asked, getting a deep growl in response. It was indeed true that Bok did not understand man’s tongue but given enough time the two had remedied it. A few hunts for the giant’s food gave Lucian enough time to learn his mannerisms when it came to things like this.
So when he heard that growl he knew it was true.
“So they finally come.” Lucian said as he glanced at the village behind them, “You can’t really tell me how many there are, so… where are they?”
He received another growl in the same direction. So it was either a small herd of monsters or a single monster.
Lucian felt his hairs stand straight on his back as the thought crossed his mind in facing the Jabbersythe. HIs flesh remembered the creature and the terror it held. How just wounding it was enough to injure the Knight. Such memories were long when exposed to the flesh that scarred easily.
If it is indeed the Jabbersythe then there will be no reason to try tracking it down. No matter how obscenely huge its body was in comparison to birds, could still bring itself to fly. But then again going forward if it was a herd of beastmen would bring the smallest amount of harm to the people of this village.
He could stand and wait, see where it comes in, and attack it. Simple and easy, without any real chance of complete failure. Yet compared to a chance sneak attack upon it would definitely lead to some casualties.
>Sally forth to face it
>Wait for it to come
>Sneak attack!
