>>5681523>>5681569>>5680666Incidentally the reason why I went and watched Hellraiser II and Hellraiser (2022) lol, I always remembered that the acting and casting in HBO Rome was exceptional and iconic, eg the Julius Caesar man and Mark Anthony, but I forgot how compelling the actor who plays the aged Pompey Magnus was too, he really delivers a captivating performance full of pathos. Well I went around hunting for what else he had done and basically it was just this and Hellraiser lol, except there is not much dramatic scope for him to do much beyond scream-snarl, wave some surgical blades and razorwire, and wade around in unconvincing 1980s plasticine intestines and gore.
I think John Milius who did Conan (1982) had a hand in HBO Rome. You can combine the look of that setting with swords and sorcery, all the gladiator pit fighter barbarians, Carthage, Scythians, Seleucids, Numidians WAR ELEPHANTS look works really well.
Beyond reading Gustave Flaubert's Salammbo hehe, I don't really know enough about the history of this era, someday I need to go and play A LOT of Total War games lol. If anyone needs inspiration I have a pictures though hehe. Anyway more James Purefoy / Mark Anthony memes now
