>>5200209“Does it say who sent it in?” you asks, the demon shaking his head.
“No. And I'm not supposed to show you, but...” the young demon kid says, looking around to see that the blue-skinned demon isn't looking, and opens the paper for you to see.
“Tatsu, father of Karn, beloved father and grandfather, died this day in glorious battle against impossible odds to protect his family.” you read, the crystallized blood on the page confirming what you'd thought about who was responsible. “He's a good kid.”
“You know a Reaper? They're so cool, I want to be one when I grow up!” the kid says, telling you how after he finishes his internship here he'll be eligible to start training, in a hundred years or so. But you then come to the massive double doors, which open inward seemingly on their own. Revealing an absolutely massive demon sitting behind a desk that is clearly too small for him.
“There you are. You sure took your sweet time.” the demon grumbles at the demon with you, then turns his gaze on you. “Tatsu, son of Barcolee and father of Karn. Step forward.”
You say nothing about your inability to actually step, and instead drift forward towards his desk. The demon towers over you, and even if you were in your Oozaru form he'd probably still be bigger.
“So, you're the one who raised up that monster.” the presumed King Yemma says, not even looking at you and instead looking inside a too-small book as he flips through. He then glances over, and seeing you his brows furrow. “After all the death you are responsible for, here you are. Are you ready to face your judgment?”
“I have nothing better to do.” you reply, ready to see what this demon has to say.
“Normally, one such as yourself would be sent straight to hell until you are reformed enough to be put through the Soul Cleansing Machine, and your soul reborn.” King Yemma says. “However, I see here from your file that you have spent time fighting and defeating many demons who'd broken free of the demon realm, and invaded the mortal plane. So, Tatsu son of Barcolee, father of Karn. I have an offer for you. You can either go to hell, and receive your punishment. Or, I can return you your body, and send you to the barrier between the mortal and demon realms. You can return to the fight, keeping demons from encroaching on the mortal realm, and the better you perform the lighter your sentencing will be once this issue is resolved. What do you say, Tatsu? Do we have a deal?”
“No rest for the weary, I suppose.” you say after a few moments consideration, and an instant later feel the ground beneath your foot. Looking down, you see your familiar, heavily-scarred body is back, and looking up see a halo above your head before meeting the giant demon's gaze. “Alright then, let's get to work.”
