You beeline to LLena's gaggle of girls and run a quick analysis of your shared history. She's definitely going to be open to a conversation if you do it right. You stay three arm lengths out, body language becoming a mixture of terse and uncaring.
There. She's noticed you and doesn't mind the intrusion.
You flicker your gaze from the corner of her eye to a space in between and she relaxes, giving you the opening you need to approach.
"Hopes?" You give her smile half-apologetic at interrupting and half encouraging to convey that yours are indeed quite high.
She shrugs.
"Hopes are for Baselines and people who play cards. I'm gonna MAKE this work for us".
You suddenly remember why your relationship was always a little distant. Sure, you feel the same, but the frankness is... you stop the mild irritation. You're on the same page here. No use feeling like this when she's clearly looking at someone who should be quite pleasant to spend time with.
You close your eyes and slightly tild your head in a sign of cordial assent.
"Likewise, likewise".
You let twinge of amusement colour your voice.
"Got any plans yet?"
She side-eyes you. Right. Too vague. Too open-ended. People like her likely see it as an affront to imply they wouldn't always have a plan. You shouldn't have let yourself get tricked into becoming too single-minded.
"Absolutely. Once we're out of the system I'll probably try to get us core-wards. Don't think we'll make it all the way to earth in one line but y'know".
She suddenly gets more animated.
"I wanna get us where the action is. Rings. Habs. The cloud cities of the inner sphere".
She's talking faster and faster now.
"A ship like this is built for SPEED y'know. We can junk around in the rim later on but at first we might not want to stick out too much. Lots of other classes going there. Sure, it's much harder to make some good Bands but just imagine at what we'll SEE!!"
You wince at the mention of money. Nearly 70 thousand of the 100 thousand Bands each citizen gets assigned at birth have gone towards your share of the ship. The remainder is more than adequate to start but it'll take a lot of effort to come back with more than you started. LLena's mind seems quite taken with the idea of going on a joy ride then make back your expenses in the danger-fraught periphery.
You sway your head from side to side, communicating the idea of being unsure but theoretically agreeable.
"And you?"
She seems genuinely interested, your arrival at the boarding ramp giving you time to mull over your answer.
>Go to the periphery. Rummage around and see what you find
>Go core-wards. See the sights. Relax for a bit. Get to know the ship
The inside of your vessel is
>Cool and sleek
>Baroque and luxurious
>Harsh and utilitarian
