TalOS and Magnus were together once again and traveled about the Forgespire for some time. Magnus was looking closely at the text that were before him as TalOS himself held a book that was of minor interest to him that Magnus gave.
It was a book about using constellations to draw power. TalOS focused upon it which caused his brother to speak up, “Brother, I must ask, what is it that you seek in that text?”
“Something that is not completely related to the Warp. Mankind, through the intervention of the Machine God, has unintentionally been using the Motive Force for likely its entire existence. I can document it back to the beginnings of the Cult, but that means it must have some starting place. These might hold that sort of secret.” TalOS propositioned to Magnus as he turned a page.
“So you seek my workings for that, while I do the same to yours.” Magnus said as he gestured with the Dataslate, “To think your people got so far without Psykers. It is human ingenuity!”
“We will be thankful for such a compliment.” TalOS said as he flipped another page about a creature known as the Dragon. TalOS focused upon the text for a moment with an ire of study, “A Dragon? Magnus, I understand that this book is about the stars but what is the ultimate source of its information.”
“Ultimately it is a study upon the culture of the Alderi.” Magnus pointed out as the two of them continued their travel, “When man was strong and powerful they were a peer to the Alderi Empire who existed at the time. During such an era our species had trade lines between one another, with explorers studying eachother’s cultures. The book you have is from one of those incursions.”
TalOS could not help but feel a moment of bother as he looked upon the book, “You gave me the words of a Xenophile?”
“But it was made by an Ancient, is it possible for the two to cancel out?” Magnus asked with a small laugh before he grew a sterner face, “I gave you that book because I remember reading something similar to how you see the Universe. It might have something within it that I… missed.”
TalOS felt those words were a little more interesting in how his brother spoke them. There was an underlying anger within them. That he was ignorant to something and that was something which could not be accepted.
But it was not envy against TalOS but anger against himself for not knowing a greater truth of the Universe. Such was why TalOS noticed a lot of Magnus’s books held the literature of Mechanicum Dogma within it.
