The Tech Priests who were called out gave a small nod along with what Lorch heard as a series of affirmations were given to the Magos Dominus. It was done in such a way that he could hardly describe it in words, as they did not speak words. No, they spoke a line of code that meant they were affirming the decision.
With that the Priest turned towards the others, +Then static positions have been found. Captain Lorch, I have the understanding that the Astartes are better suited to assault than siege tactics?+
+That is correct Magos Dominus.+ He declared with a firm line of coding to make sure the Tech Priest got his words, +As the Mechanicum’s warmachines seige the locations we can scout the local rural locations and eliminate sources of retaliation.+
+I wish to pledge my forces to that effort as well.+ Declared the Duke as he placed his hand over his heart, +My Errants and Gallants all need something to do as we break down their walls.+
The Tech Priest looked to both their sides for a moment with either side of its face. As if he was trying to gleam something from both their faces, though he would find none on the mask of Lorch. Then the Astartes had to think knowing that the Tech Priests could glance at their armor’s vitals with barely a thought.
+That is sound. The Skitarii will find better use in the siege where they can expect a rest. As our attention needs to be placed on their cities I grant oversight to Duke Bellerus.+ Announced the Tech Priest as a small click could be heard, +Duke Bellarus, I expect reports every eight hours about performance and locations taken. Note that you superseded Captain Lorch by a factor of 1.13 thus you should consider his word before engagement.+
The Astartes simply kept his mouth shut as he heard that the Duke would be taking command. Though really it was something the Astartes expected. The Duke was going to be leader of the colony, there was no need to put their relationship in danger before the war was even over.
With that discussions continued for some time, as to how the Mechnicum would initiate the siege. As many of the Knights were to be traveling the countryside, the less maneuverable Malcador and its variants will be taking up firing positions for all these cities.
Lorch felt a moment of irony as he thought that. So many times had he seen the Malcador on Terra but it was struck down in favor of the mighty Knights. The Imperial Army and the Legions will need to find new systems of war, or he felt they would be superseded by the Mechanicum’s Knights.
