Your eyes linger on a single name: Gentle Rain. You were surprised that Lane still used that old username. How many hours did the two of you spend planning your next match? Swinging at one another in a training arena? While you were busy studying class guides and forum posts, he was watching old streams of matches and plays. You'd pose a theory or question and from there he would always come up with a plan. He was the team's planner but on the field it was up to you to keep the party together to enact it. "Dude, everyone says that Crimson Glory copied Rising Dragon's color scheme to make a point. James is totally obsessed with taking down 'the old guard'." Roland says causing you to jump. "He wants your title and he wants your number 2's team. Just look. The comp is basically the same." You nod, watching the stream overlay slowly fade away to reveal the team's characters teleport into the forest stage. Each one of them had a custom animation from walking in from a miniature fog to slowly descending from a beam of light. Lance was the only one who had the stock digitization effect which was very much in character for him. He was never one for fancy effects or insane looks. It was form over function for him though he at least put in the effort to have all his equipment match in style. You were surprised to see him in an asian style flowing robes rather than the standard European swordsman attire. Despite their differing styles and tastes, all members of Rising Dragon were in matching team colors. Some bore the guild emblem on their gear while others wore an armband with it. A few of them chat among themselves as they wait for the prematch timer to run down. One of them waves eagerly at the sky, anticipating the spectator cam.
Then the perspective shifts to another end of the forest as James' team comes into view. They all share the same effect, a burning flame they all emerge from. Due to their close proximity it looks like a raging inferno contained within the starting barrier. They are all clad in their team colors though unlike Rising Dragon, they all wear the same cloak and hood with the insignia of their team on the cape, a angular flame that could also double as the shape for a flower. All of them break formation to emote at the camera, clearly confident in their ability. "Everyone knows that Crimson Glory is paying hand over foot to have their PvE guild farm materials for their competitive team and their team alone." Roland says. "But their Guild is full of fanatics with superiority complexes. Basically they're the new craze on the block and their flaunting it."
"I'm guessing Saris is James' character?" You ask. Roland nods.
