You all agree to follow the Jester to his home. You exit the train station, and get a glimpse of Jangleburg proper. The sound of jangling bells, harps, flutes, and drums fill the air, as well as the smell of meat pies and funnel cake. The constantly commuting Jesters passing by each other create a kaleidoscope of garish colors. The nearby buildings are also brightly painted in an attempt to capture the attention of consumers.
Before you can even take that all in, you are ushered into a carriage. It's a bit cramped, but your whole crew fits.
You ask if they sell Dirndls here. Patting your daughter on the head, you say she enjoyed wearing one during the story.
"You can probably find some somewhere here yes." The Jester King says offhand. "But can I interest you in a cap'n'bells instead? a jester dress and some colorful breeches? We also have coats of all sorts of motley colors and all locally made!"
"I think the regular dress will be fine." Tamako tries to say politely.
You ask how the Queen could just sweep in and take away his daughter.
"Well, she was invited to the celebration, the Queen is her mother after all and it was her first story. Jesters and mimes... We get along like oil and water. Something solidified by our divorce. Usually we get along when Lulu is involved, but Mime Queen was quite... Put off by the lateness of our return. Like that's my fault at all. Hmph." He seethes.
"Don't you have like, guards and stuff? Couldn't they have stopped her?" Tamako asks confused.
"Well, we could have yes but that would have just caused more problems, little one." He replies with a sigh. "Honestly, I was guessing my daughter would come back of her own accord. I never expected my ex to lock her away when she tried!"
"And you are sure she was kidnapped by the Queen? Like absolutely sure?" Emogen asks carefully. "Are you sure she couldn't be anywhere else?"
"Not unless she wanted to wander the country side or wanted to visit the ruins of Clownopolis. And I doubt she'd do either." The Jester King says, "And as far as I'm aware the last time she was seen with anyone was her, and I only have her word she went missing on the way back."
The carriage stops in front of a huge stone castle with a red and black tiled roof. Atop one of the spires of the castle is a fool's cap. Confetti seems to fall or blow in from nowhere, leading you to the foyer where there are a number of portraits hung up. The Jester King points up to a painting with a very fancy jester-themed gold frame, in which a lovely young lady is portrayed.
