>>5348783The Healer’s adamance tells you that she might not fare that well if you bring her straight into the heat of the action, but maybe, just maybe, you can put her to use in some other way…
”If you don’t want to go inside FutureLabs, how would you feel about stealing a body?”
Your sudden change of topic makes the woman perk up in her seat, but the most important thing is that she’s listening.
“We have another mutant helping us, but his physical body is in Vitello Hospital.” You take her silence as your cue to keep going. “He’s working on a way to sabotage FutureLabs’ computing systems when we go in there, so they’re going to realize it was him right-off-the-bat.”
“T-They’ll kill him, won’t they?” The Healer quickly realizes what will happen to Eddie.
“Yeah.” You don’t doubt that Atticus Charles will retaliate as soon as he figures out what’s going on.
“Sooooo…” The Healer drawls, nervousness coating her tone. “Am I stealing a dead body here? I-I’ve never touched a dead body before in my life.”
“No, he’s in the coma ward.” You clarify.
“Oh! Well, that’s better than dealing with a nasty, pallid, possibly-haunted body, right?” The Healer replies. “Though we all have to die someday, don’t we?” She trails off, looking increasingly thoughtful about something else.
“What are you going to do with the body once you have it?” The Healer asks, straightening up her glasses against her face. “I assume you have some way to wake him up if you’re going so far as to take him out of there.”
“Yeah, we have his brain.” You affirm.
“So you’re in possession of a mutant who can separate his mind from his body? How interesting!” The Healer wheels herself closer to you. “How long has he been in a coma anyhow?”
“A bit over a month, maybe longer.” You shrug, but you haven’t really been keeping track of time. All you do know is that it’s been as long as you’ve had Valjean and Julia in the warehouse.
