>>6212410So the main character is not from the Game of Thrones Universe, and generally will not be bound to its rules of magic. She's from a more magically and technologically advanced setting... which still has some traditions and trappings (wizards preferring to live in towers, for example). She may eventually learn to tap into some of the local systems (such as the Heart Tree Network), but since she's used to a far more structured and ordered magic system, she won't be as skilled with those specific spells.
The sap she discovered is from the core of a fruit that produces a poison used in the series called "The Strangler". As far as I'm aware, the series never goes into its origin, so I'm making it something of a fantasy cyanide. It could certainly be used for lens making if that's what you wish, as it can very easily pass for a gemstone (in the series, it's smuggled into a party by someone wearing it among amethysts in her hairnet).
Watching out for storms is definitely important, considering this island is part of the Stormlands.
>>6212424>Could we weave ourselves a shelter for the night in a reasonable amount of time? Yes, that would take a few hours depending on how big you want it. Reed houses are a thing, though that would probably be a less permanent structure rather than the foundation of a Tower.
>And is the five baskets worth of weaving at a time a hard or soft limit - meaning, could we weave more than that while incurring some cost, or is that as much as we can do?That's as much as you can do without straining yourself. In this case, doing more would give you a headache over the course of working, and trying for, say, 10 would land you with a migraine.
