Here's my issue with Ressurection, as much as I want it: Is it sustainable long term? And should we consign our men to it?
Remember that Biotransferrence aka Ressurection Protocol will only bring back the consciousness, but not the soul. Their are ||taken by the C'tan|| stored in the Data Vaults of the Machine God not to be returned. I'm sure that many if not most of our Marines would be willing to follow the adage "even in Death I still serve" but that means absolutely not even the fragments of organic life like drinking B33R that they had before. I'm sure our troops are best fit for it out of anyone else because they already abandoned most other weaknesses of flesh. Hell, I bet some would even love it.
But more to the point how about the perception of others and our own Mechanicum and allies? To resurrect our troops as cron's would render them soulless. And the soulless intelligence is the biggest sin in our cult. We can't even get away with pretending they are nulls because we discovered that even Nulls have souls, even powerful ones. Necrons won't have any souls. Maybe we can mask it and hide it, like the Dark Angels do the Fallen or the Space Wolves do the Wulfen. But it would be a risk.
Maybe we should reserve it for our machines instead? Or in the very least, try to limit how often we do this.
Granted, for the Heresy, if we show up on Terra to fight Horus maybe the Emperor himself will let us get away with it. I just hope Kelbor also doesn't throw any fits.
Thoughts?
