"Don't be alarmed." You told her as you started to pull off the arming jacket. "But you should know about this."
"Don't be alarmed of… what…" Tari started to say, but when she saw the arcane sigils on your arms, she stopped. "What are those?"
"They are sigils. They help me in channelling mana." You told her and took off your black trousers as well.
Tari looked at you aghast and didn't know what to say at first.
"Sigils? Mana? Alric, what are you doing?" Tari asked you as concern creeped into her voice.
"I am studying arcane magic." You said back. "And these painted sigils help me get used to and channel mana."
"You are speaking elvish to me now Alric." Tari said back and didn't seem that impressed by your explanation or really understand it.
You sighed and sat on the bed as you pulled off your socks and then shirt as well so that Tari could see all the sigils.
"I am doing this because even if I trained my arms, eyes and mind to the limit and for me to be the best swordsman in the whole Lordaeron, there are going to be threats that a mere sword can't defeat." You said to her and continued after a pause. "I have seen magic, be it Lady Jandice extinguishing the fire, the tools the assassin used or hell…just the whole city of Dalaran."
"And you feel like you need to know magic to do what?" Tari asked you. She was still concerned about what she was seeing.
"To protect you, my friends, my family, the Alteracis and myself." You said back to her. "I need this edge magic could provide me, because I fear that without it, I can’t do it. I can't protect myself or others. I have already nearly died once you know."
Tari looked at you before sitting next to you and taking hold of your arm. She studied the sigils before tracing one with her finger.
"Do these hurt?" She asked.
"I have gotten used to them. They do feel hot, but they do not burn me." You explained. "Every evening they are reapplied."
"Every? Who is your teacher?" Tari asked and was surprised.
"The scholar Nalice and yes, every night. I sneak out of the house while wearing the robe." You told her.
"And you are truly doing this to protect others, to protect yourself? You have no other motives?" Tari asked you carefully as she traced the sigils with her finger. She looked in your eyes and the butterflies intensified in your stomach. "You don't sacrifice fair maidens on an altar for demonic overlords?"
"No, what?" This time was your turn to be concerned.
"That was a joke you silly." Tari said laughing and pulled you into a hug. Her hair tickled your chest and back. "I believe you Alric, it is just you don't see anything like this often… well never."
"I understand." You said back as Tari released her hug. "And no, I don't have ulterior motives and Light forbid I am not sacrificing fair maidens on altars while cackling maniacally."
