“Hang on, I was wondering if there was a tool I could get.” You say, as you turn on your VPN.
“Tools? Didn’t you have your briefing with Squid last night? She told me she already gave you one.”
You did leave on a rather awkward note. She was upset about you neither sharing your plan, nor your metadata. At the moment, she’s all the way in her lab, overseeing the status of the team members.
“It’ll be quick, I just need to use the Flipper she had. I want to make some kind of sled for transport.”
Wind clicks his tongue, annoyed.
“Supply allocation should have been done last night. Whatever your own plan is, didn’t you clear it with her and work things through? Why do you need a whole new piece now, in the morning?”
You look towards the other members, who are all raring to go. You remember what she said. One of them has the flipper now, the other has the gun. On second thought, you don’t know how long it’s going to take for them to use it, and things are about to get busy. Stalling the mission for this is not a reasonable expenditure of time.
<span class="mu-s">”Marnie? Let’s just go.”</span>
You nod, looking away from Wind. He accepts the signal and motions for the group to approach the beacon. Perhaps if you had shared more details with Squid ahead of time, she’d have been able to put something together.
However, on the way out, as the Tamers are interacting with the beacon and teleporting to the café above, you spy a piece of metal resting against a cordoned-off section of flooring. There's a small pile of potentially useful scrap, with a little squid symbol stenciled above the mini loading bay. Must be supplies for the team Cracker. It’s a mildly concave disc, like some kind of cap that might go on a piece of industrial equipment. You quickly suck it into your inventory. A simple f1oat usage on this will allow you to use it to slide down slopes. It won't be as useful as a customized tool or modified asset... but maybe you could try surfing, like you've always wanted.
