Her eyes were hidden behind a pair of purple shades, but you were certain she was looking straight at you. You prepared yourself to catch whatever she shot at you, but the projectile never came. Not towards you, at least.
The archer girl instead swiveled to fire a shot at Ana without breaking eye contact with you. The huntress easily snatched the arrow out of the air, and threw it aside almost immediately. A thick plume of green gas began spewing from the arrow tip before it even hit the ground, and you could just barely make out Ana covering her face with her cloak and retreating from the growing cloud. The Mask Maker was doing likewise.
“Ana!” Ben shouted, struggling between keeping you from floating away and running to his girlfriend’s aid.
Like a magician whipping out a card, you instantly brandished a moon dart and flicked it at the archer girl. It only traveled half its distance before she spotted it and sniped it out of the air, though.
You muttered a curse, and did a rundown of your available options.
>Float helplessly.
or
>Scream your head off and flail around wildly.
Not great options, all things considered.
Hi-Vo aimed his hand at the dropship in front of you and released an arc of electricity. The guy in white and blue spandex just barely managed to spin out of its path, weakening his grasp on you. The ship had fared far worse, and was only barely managing to avoid spinning out of control.
The flying boy brought out his other hand, using his power to stabilize the vehicle he’d just come out of. Ben took that opportunity to turn the tables on him.
He ran up to the boy, sprang into the air, snagged his underwear through a gap in his costume with a webline, and yanked it over his head in what you could only describe as the world’s worst atomic wedgie!
“A little advice, kid! Girls don’t like grabby guys!” Ben said, blinding the boy with his own underwear and encasing him in a near complete web cocoon.
The boy had no choice but to leave the ship to its fate, as he had his hands full preventing himself from falling full speed towards the ground. You felt a pang of sympathy for the guy. Or maybe you were just cringing from how brutal that wedgie was.
You were absolutely certain, however, that you could feel your sense of balance returning to you as your assailant lost control of whatever power he was using on you. You landed back on your feet and went into an immediate crouch, narrowly avoiding a blunt-tipped arrow to the side of your head.
Another volley followed, and you prepared to dodge again, but an oppressive shadow washed over you and blocked your vision, as well as the arrows!
You looked up to find Gorgolla’s outstretched wing being placed in front of you. He stared down at you with an impassive look on his stony face. You were grateful that he’d tried to protect you, but you could also see that he hadn’t fully committed to the fight. No one was trying to provoke him, either.
