Topic: Power Generation, Storage and Transmission
This is the area where data is largely inconclusive. Initially it was believed that the "eyes" of a Garmillas vessel is a ramscoop, which is how they are powered, but that theory is quickly discounted due to the power consumption displayed, which would require a far larger scoop, as well as frequent and lengthy rest periods. No, from the readings available, it is something that has so far outstripped every known power source. However, further attempts to probe the power source was met with confounding failure. Previously, the jamming systems of the Garmillan ships were pitiful by Federation standards, the only obstacles are those in the nano-scale, and technology that simply does not reveal its true nature until activation, and the power source's interference. Even attempting to study the interference itself revealed precious little, other than spectrum-wide resonations and the personal reports of the observing personnel, who states their sensations of unease whenever looking in too closely. This effect is pronounced in psionically active personnel who attempted to utilize Psychometry, who reports an inhibition of their abilities, describing it as the following:
"A sweltering heat that tries to knock me out"
"An oppressive shadow "Inside""
"Heavy, can't breathe, can't move"
"Many, many, many, many, please, I give up..."
Further investigation is required, though light probings reveal that it is referred to as the "Geschtam", and it powers all systems aboard. This same word seems to refer to their hyperdrives as well, being subject to a claim that this is the most powerful form of energy in the universe, though such claims are viewed with skepticism by our observers. Further probing is discouraged, due to fragments of thoughts describing training to recognize signs of mental influence alongside the possibility of an overextension causing the affected target to be sent to undergo an EEG reading, which can reveal psionic influence if there is a record of general brain patterns, and a precious nugget of knowledge is revealed: The crew of this fleet are not Garmillans, but a subject species known as Zaltzians, wherease the Garmillas have blue skin, the Zaltzians are nearly indistinguishable from humans. There also seems to be a presence of Garmillan "handlers" present aboard the Le Chevalier as well. On to the point, the immense energies produced by the "Geschtam" are transmitted through wiring, in what form it is not yet known, due to interference. Power storage is more elucidated, with what appears to be thin "slices" of some crystalline material that are stacked together. Other than this it is not known, though it cannot be overstated how powerful the generation is, exceeding proton-proton fusion, and even the testing models of conversion reactors(1).
