"That's all I know. Apparently a Huxley, Krakatoa, and another Vanni are also searching for her and we might encounter them."
"Fuuucckk, okay, yeah. That's not good. Not good at all. Our families aren't on the best of terms so, uh, yeah." Her voice grows distant and muffled. "Hey, Benny, we're going to finish this and we're going to meet Nicole."
"See you. We'll meet up soon." Max hastily whispers into the phone.
"Take your time." You end the call.
You next dial up Alexis as you start putting on your uniform. A bulky pink coat with a thick hood (antler holes included), rugged blue jeans, thick steel-toed boots, and some leather gloves. If you're going into a mine, might as well be protected. You have to hold your phone pretty far away from your ears (which are oddly more sensitive now) as the call connects.
"WHAT DO YOU <span class="mu-s">MEAN THAT B-COMPANY WON'T LET ME IN?! I SPENT THREE DAMN MONTHS TRYING TO ORGANIZE A MEETING WITH THEIR CEO AND-</span>" She only now notices that she's getting a call from you. She mutters under her breath as you hear the sound of some sliding doors opening. "Hello, Nicole. What seems to be the mission today?" She tries her best to hide the fact she was screaming at the top of her lungs earlier.
"Uh, you okay there? I kinda overheard your little episode there."
"Please tell me what the mission is about." Alexis chirps out with the same robotic soulless tone that you hear in dead inside F-Corp fast food employees. You decide to give her a short rundown of the mission. "Hm!" This immediately picks up her mood. "Okay, okay, I can absolutely work with this." It's clear she's already brewing a plan on how to get into contact with these powerful families. "Perfect timing, Nicole. I know my investments in you would work out."
"I'm bringing along three other allies. One of them is Benjamin, the other two you haven't met. Bring your usual equipment."
"Of course, of course!" Alexis coos with a sickly sweet tone. It's clear she's barely listening to you after you mentioned the rich families. "See you!" The call then ends.
Lastly, Casey. You haven't hired her before so this will be new. The moment you dial her number, an annoying jingle from Beetleburger blares over the line. It's just the word "MEAT" repeated over and over again as bitcrunched retro game music plays. It takes a solid minute for Casey to even say anything as the music plays.
"Oh! Hey! Casey Smith, HR of Clover Suite! We are clearly unavailable for any additional reservations, we ran out two days ago. However, you may leave an advanced reservation with Clover Guan himself to-"
You interrupt the saleswoman speech she's giving with a simple cough. "Nicole here. Hiring you on a mission. Got $100. You in?"
"Oh! You're Clover's friend! Yes, yes, yes! I'll be there soon!" "Wait you don't even know where I want you to meet at-" The call disconnects. You don't understand a single lick about how this girl thinks. Oh well. You take a moment to put NEW YOU on...
