You continue to hold the wizard at sword point while you deliberate exactly what to do. Eventually, deciding to keep the sword and release your captive.
"So be it, ill need a scabbard and belt too."
[You gain a Fancy High Quality Sword, there is an aura of destiny about it. +5 to personal combat roles.]
As you sheath your new blade and tie it around your waist, you question Rasputin further.
"You say that this sword comes to me freely but I do not believe for a second you give gifts to every man you come across. You seem to know much about me wizard. You know exactly where to be, to give me exactly what I desire, exactly when I want it. Will you suggest it was mere happenstance?"
"Am I wrong to believe that men of Zod value destiny above all else? Perhaps our encounter should be taken as a good omen to our newfound friendship. As I understand it, a gifted sword during a chance encounter has led to at least one fortuitous venture. May it be a start of another."
The wizard is speaking of the parable of Zod and Illis, the mythical founders of your nation. Supposedly, The two men had met by chance, while one was on his way to deliver a sword to the other. Now your emotions are mixed, on one hand the wizard is not wrong. It is impossible to find a devout citizen who does place a high deal of importance in fate. Should your encounter be legitimate, it brings good tidings indeed. Enough for even you to drop your guard. On the other hand, you are almost sure the wizard engineered it to be so. Engineering fate by anyone other then an astrologer, is also very very blasphemous. The wizard must know this, so the contradiction. Is this possibly designed meeting with a stranger worth losing his head over? Probably not, so it must be legitimate. TOO legitimate... You can't see his end. This is exactly the thing that makes wizards the antagonist of so many children's tales. its Infuriating.
"Watch your self magos, a gift is not enough to sway my heart. Zod and Illis were not strangers, yet the two of us have never met. Think twice before you call yourself my friend." despite now having a sword, you now feel even more disarmed then ever by his allusion. You have quickly decided the next best move is to put the wizard behind you, literally. Simply walk away.
"You are absolutely correct. I would think we should further work to build a foundation that friendship can stand upon first. Come to my study tomorrow night, I'm sure i can find something there to amuse you with."
you scoff at his persistence. "Snakes will fly first."
