At the start of every thread, there is a framing device
A spymaster carrying vital documents is trapped in a collapsed building; because he may not survive, he has to impart information of what happened three years ago (AKA Quest Proper) to a junior officer while they await rescue.Through the conversations of these Framing characters, I am in effect able to ask the players questions like "so what would you like this quest to focus on?" or more recently "how was the MC rescued from this prison?" (I paraphrase, but that's what it amounts to).
It's not rocket science, players still pick dialogue options like usual, but the options they pick from can now be ore high-level than "what does the MC do in this situation?"
