The Elk shouldn't do something like that, or at least you hope not. Both items are pressed together and you recite the binding ritual again. It drains you the same though and you close your eyes.
When you open them again, you look down to the Foci and let out a breath you didn't know you were holding. This one feels much better in your hand. In fact, you think this is something you're gonna like a whole lot!
The handle is made of a finely polished bone, smooth and perfectly balanced. What used to be a simple blade has grown longer, curving in a wave, and the edge glows with a bright cyan hue which has a sort of eagerness to be used. This new binding swishes easily through the air, letting out a soft note as it moves. You go through your knife combat drills, ducking and slashing, stepping back and sweeping in a countering dodge. A newfound speed has your knife moving like it's jumping through the air. This feels excellent!
A couple more stances and swipes with the binding gives you an idea. You hold your knife steady then dash forward with a quick thrust of your new Foci.
The blade shoots forward, dragging you along with it and you come to a skidding stop as it sent you a good dozen feet or so! You do repeat your thrust and flash around the field each time.
