A moon twin to the planet, almost half of it's size.

At the botton, there is a portal to Cymnoz's domain. A way for souls to traverse between the mortal and divine realms, and finish the cycle. But also a way for the ocasional strong drowned or lost remnant to escape.

Mourners. As Cymnoz finished watching his new creation, he saw noticed that a few of the purified souls stayed on the planet he used as a portal, instead of returning to their homes. He felt great pity at the innocent beings who now had neither the peace of death or the change of life. So great was it, that he went against his own nature, and create life in the islands of the new planet, so that these orphans could have their chance to be part of the cycle.
He had no concept of how life should be made, as all he had was etheral. However, he did have something to inspire him close by, the creations of his sister. These new being would be of bone plates and fleshy sinew with featureless faces. A people resistant to cold, darkness and death.

Also, kind of want to propose an universal law of reincarnation to fit what I wrote. Anyone else up for it? Kind of blew all my points.
