Players almost always choose things that are reasonable (get us from A to B) leading to bland mcs, expecially so if Players agree on the end goal. compulsive MC, on the other hand, are more human and enjoyable; creating randomness that can lead to fun outcomes. Tho I will say having a QM roll a dice to see whether MC is in Glide mode or does their own thing is a nice blame shifter.
In my humble opinion the best MCs have personalities so strong they actively hamper the general efforts of Players and require Rolls to contain their impulses. So much more lively then.
