It was night, but you weren't able to sleep yet. A certain ghost girl could be held responsible for that.
"Ah, so you find yourself ensnared by the memories of the wandering spirits, hmm? Fear not, for I, the eternal specter of the Wailing Sorrow, shall lend you my ghostly might!" A trapped spirit said boastfully.
"Yumi, what the hell are you talking about?" You ask her. She's been going on about spirits and ghosts for a while now.
"The corridors of fate opened their doors to me, and I chanced upon your whispers of the ancient matron's tragic saga." She extened her arms and poses dramatically. "Alas, the fleeting specter of her niece's life was snuffed out too swiftly, like a candle extinguished by the tempest's breath, is it not?" You think she's trying to appear wise and foreboding, but her miniature size and voice just make it look cute.
"Snuffed it may be, but I harken the essence of your folly." You reply in her language. "Dare not to tread upon the realm of past shadows, lest the wrath of the Savant Master befall thee." You warn her not to step out of place and do something she'd regret.
"Fufufufu!" She laughs. "You would threaten the power and glory of the name called Yumi? It is you who should fear to dare- WHAAAAAH!!!"
You start spinning the crystal like a top. After she gets properly dizzy, and you get properly entertained, you stop. Her eyes practically have swirls in them.
"Ugh..." After a few minutes Yumi gets better. She shakes her head, trying to get herself situated again. "Like I was SAYING!" She practically screams. "I was gonna offer to check if that fox turned into a ghost! As a thank you for taking me to see Centria!"
"How would you-"
"Know about Aneko? I have ears, dummy! Well, I had ears. But I can still listen to what people are saying! And that little fox girl you rescued was talking to me about a dead kitsune called Aniki or something that got raped by goblins."
"I was about to ask how would you be able to tell if Aneko turned into a ghost or not." You've honestly not really thought about spirits that much, other than what Herta told you about their different types.
"Dying the way she did usually means you'd turn into a vengeful ghost, or a poltergeist, or a shade." You're not sure if that's accurate or not. Again she acts with a flourish. "Ah, dear Savant! If thou dost inquire how I possess such knowledge, I must reveal that we spiritual beings, clad in shadows and whispers, possess arcane methods to unveil one another's essence when around an altar!!!"
