He nodded. "Gaius and Schala. Here's your staff." He said, then slowly brought the silver staff he had been holding down toward you.
You let go of the girl clinging to your side and took a step forward. Her hand lingered on your shoulder, then down your back for a moment more. "Thanks." you said simply as you caught the staff.
[Acquired Silver Staff]
The staff was a little heavier than the iron one you had found, but still easy to wield. You held it with both hands in front of your chest, as if to block a blow, performed some basic maneuvers with it, then slammed its butt on the ground and a clang echoed. It seemed sturdy and well balanced as well. You smiled. Now you only had to test it on your enemies.
While you played with your staff, the man stepped around you. "And here are your daggers, lass. Be careful with the silver one, it's sharp."
"O-okay. Um... Thank you..." came Schala's voice from behind you, followed by the shuffling of her robes.
[Schala acquired Silver Dagger]
"Good luck out there kids. Come say hi if you ever visit us again." and with these parting words he began leisurely walking away.
"We will! Thanks for everything Mr. Whitwell!" Marle shouted at his back.
You watched the man wave back and disappear among the shelves when a sudden sniffle caused you to turn back in alarm. Schala's mask of composure had been shattered. Her wide eyes darted from the silver dagger she was holding to meet your gaze. A single tear streaked down her cheek. "Why am I...?" she asked no one in particular.
Before you had a chance to react, Marle rushed and wrapped her arms around Schala's shoulders while the black knife dropped on the floor with a dull thud.. You were left with your arm half-raised and unsure on what to do. She leaned in and whispered something in your love's ear, something that you couldn't make out. Schala chuckled, sniffled again, wiped her moist eyes with her open palm, then returned Marle's hug. "It's okay... I'm okay... thank you. Thank you everyone. This is wonderful..."
