>>5546637>You can hardly believe what you’re hearing. You may be sitting across one of the only other humans in all Fodlan that has had first-hand experience dealing with the Agarthan menace. You quickly press Lysithea for more details. “These Imperial officials…do you remember anything about them? Who were they?”Lysithea does not immediately respond. She’s still hardly able to meet you in the eyes, seeming lost in her thoughts as she drums up the memories of whatever it was the Agarthans had done to her. Finally, after an extended pause, she speaks. “Perhaps I should start from the beginning. Nearly 20 years ago, House Ordelia had lent their assistance to House Hyrm in a failed rebellion against the Adrestian Empire. As retaliation for our part in the revolt, the Empire sent emissaries to our court. These men, backed by the Empire, took control of every aspect of Ordelian politics while the other nobles of the Empire stood by and did nothing. They drained our coffers dry and were the de facto rulers of our territory. Would that be all they were guilty of, though.”
She takes a deep breath, before continuing. “We quickly discovered that these were no ordinary government bureaucrats. They possessed a few select interests, namely in the area of Crests. The Crest of Charon has run through the Ordelian noble line for generations. I possess it, as did my siblings. That made us the perfect guinea pigs for their research. They built a research laboratory in the bowels of our castle, and we were subjected to something they called ‘Blood Reconstruction’ surgery.”
>“I never knew you had siblings, Lysithea.”“I did. Once. Unfortunately, I was the only survivor of their experimentation.”
>“Lysithea…I’m so sorry. What was the purpose of this surgery? What was their aim?”“In short, they wanted to see if they could implant more than one crest into a single person. And they succeeded. Partially, at least. Though it’s not common knowledge, I possess two crests. The Minor Crest of Charon, which I was born with, and a Major Crest of Gloucester. To my knowledge, I am the only person that bears two crests.”
This was certainly news to you. From what you understood, it was impossible for someone to have more than one Crest. There was no record of such a person having ever previously existed. But it would make sense in the context of Lysithea. Her command of magic was supposedly second to none, able to wipe out waves of enemies with but a single spell.
>“What do you mean they only partially succeeded?”
