>>5325983With your body pushed over the brink, you're not going to be getting up on your own anytime soon. But that doesn't mean you can't still see how the others are faring, and so you telepathically reach out to the Rak'kari champion.
“I found a dragon down here, and just finished killing it.” you think to the Rak'kari, his shock surging through the mental link.
“You WHAT?!” he replies immediately. “You actually killed it?”
“Yeah. Stabbed it in the chest with my sword, and most of the Abyss down here cleared up.” you follow up as the roaring noise above gets closer. “Then I ran my daughter's spear straight through the monster's head, and it hasn't moved since.”
“You....You really did it.” he answers, almost to himself as he's quiet for several moments before answering. “I knew that if anyone would be able to kill that colossal thing, it would be you, but I didn't actually believe it could die. Not after its spawn continued to live when it was only bones.”
“Wait, its spawn?” you ask, and then suddenly remember back. When you had found the shrine in the M'lurnian ruins that your daughter Chaya had been exploring, and the chamber depecting the Rak'kari giving the M'lurnians the dragon egg. So they'd gotten it from the Abyss, from that dragon you'd just killed. Everything is starting to make sense. But you possibly have more pressing concerns. “But what about the fight? Where is that four-armed being?”
“We managed to survive it, at least some of us.” he replies, tone shifting immediately to one of sorrow. “When the darkness began to recede, the being simply vanished, and we haven't seen it since. After it disappeared, and the void spirits quit appearing, we started searching for a way to get down there and reach you. But now you have a bigger problem.”
“I can't handle another problem, I'm worn out.” you reply, sighing as that roaring noise keeps getting louder. It sounds sort of familiar, like it is something you've heard before, but can't quite place it.
“You need to escape this place.” the Rak'kari champion thinks to you, tone full of worry. “Do you hear that noise? It is the sea, coming to reclaim this Abyss. The Dark held the almighty ocean back, but now it is coming to reclaim what was stolen.”
“Shit!” you reply, ending the mental link and immediately reaching out to your wife, Meloka. “Mel, can you hear me?”
“What happened?” she replies immediately.
“I just finished off the source of the Abyss, but-” you start, then stop as the roaring noise reaches a fever pitch. Then for a moment you see it, hundreds of tons of water crashing straight down towards you. “Oh shit.”
And then the entire ocean comes crashing down.
