The Orkish Warlord, no longer covered by his horde, was now out in the clear open to those who had been waiting for this moment vehemently.
The Heavy Weapon Marines allowed their weapons to bark. Several beams of red light making clear holes into the Squig’s hide that left the great creature seemingly stunned at the sheer damage it was inflicted with. Moments later four lances crossed the field and sliced into the creature at various bits with a brutal efficiency that one could only grant to cold calculcated murder. The Armigers, who gave the supporting fire, blared their horns in triumph as they quickly began rushing towards their heavily wounded prey.
They did not have the chance though as a barrage of Volkite and radium fire came crashing into the flesh of both rider and steed. The Volkite dug deep and caused many parts of the creature to become something more resembling a stain on the ground than a living Ork. Somehow though UZ1 could tell it was still alive even after all that punishment.
So she raised her Plasma gun and sent a ball of plasma through the Ork’s head.
With their warlord dead, just as the doctrine of the Imperium states, the Orks quickly began their route with cries of their boss’s death.
UZ1 watched a few stray shots from the Astartes fire off but none moved from their position. Within a moment she scanned the area and noted that even though they won and kept the enemy away there were still casualties.
While among the Rangers were few the Astartes and Acillians both lost a battle brother each to stray gunfire. Such was the cost of using them as walls against the incoming gunfire. Both had begun moving themselves next to the bodies of their fallen as they tried to figure out what they needed to do.
UZ1 was already finely aware of what was needed when one of the Astartes moved up to her, “Adept UZ1, we need assistance recovering the geneseed of our brother. Permission to carry his corpse with us until an apothecary can be retrieved.”
UZ1 only gave a shaking of the head as she began approaching the body, “I have learned quite a few things from TalOS. I have already reviewed your anatomy and will retrieve it myself.”
The Astartes seemed stunned for a moment as she spoke those words. Instead of bawking or demanding that only an Astartes could do so he went to the side, “Do what needs to be done, Adept UZ1”
UZ1 simply gave a nod as she looked over to see the Acillians already digging into their brother to retrieve the genecore that TalOS had installed in each of them.
