> Leftover Mana: Experiment! Whisper Aers Arx, Merco. Mana potions.
Mel stifled a yawn as her campmate vanished from view. A few more things to handle before bed. First was trying out a few whispered versions of spells. If she had tools available that cost her nothing, then not using them was foolish. Unfortunately in practice most didn’t seem to amount to much. Merco felt like it might be a small burst speed, but faded almost immediately, and Aers at a whisper moved about as much wind as her own breath. Aers Arx was a little more interesting, a small flutter of wind that felt a bit cool, but still only marginally different than her own breath.
She followed it up with a quickly drawn rune circle in the dirt, and kneeled over to whisper.
“Vitae.”
A faint glow, bright enough to make the patch of dirt visible, but nothing around it. Might be good for reading something in the dark? Although she had her lantern now. Whispered magic wasn’t exactly proving useful.Mel eyed her collection of centipede eggs with some measure of suspicion, it was definitely past time to do something with them, the idea of them hatching in the middle of the night was - yeargh, just no. Babs had mentioned making them into mana potions, which seemed about as useful as they could be. One extra spell might make the difference.
Four jars, filled ahead of time by a quick trip by the golem. With a grimace she picked up one of the leathery eggs and slit it open with her knife, releasing a gelatinous pale glop into the jar. A quick check with arcane sight confirmed her suspicion, the magic was only in the interior of the egg, the leathery outside was just casing. She moved down the line, dumping egg into jars, then screwed the lids on tight, giving each a good shake afterwards.
Disgusting magical mixture frothed in jars in front of her. Mel grimaced, she was going to have to ask Babs about magical ingredients that didn't make her sick just looking at them. Well, last step. She moved down the line, placing alternating hands on the lids.
"<span class="mu-r">Vitae. Vitae. Vitae. Vitae. </span>"
The last of her magic left her in a rush, the four jars visibly shining for a moment. Labels, she was going to need labels before long. She packed away her freshly minted mana potions and stumbled across the definitely weathered centipede heart. Getting that enchanted for preservation was going to take everything she had unfortunately, and it probably wasn't going to last much longer either, two more days was probably all it had before rot set in. Maybe Babs would let her have one of those preservation jars?
Mel shooed the thoughts out of her head, it was well and truly time for sleep.
