>>6230002“We'll stay the course.” you mutter aloud, your daughter looking over to you in confusion.
“Huh? What're-? You talking about?” she asks, still trying to catch her breath from the last sparring match. “What? Course?”
“Was thinking about training.” you say, pushing yourself wearily up to your feet despite your exhaustion. Going over to your daughter, offering her your hand to help herself up. Which she takes, you pulling her up to her feet. “About the warning we got.”
“That new tournament.” she answers, you seeing her expression change. Serious but excited, you can tell she's looking forward to it. No longer even fully seeing the challenge before her, her mind on that tournament. Which you have to stop, so you reach over, grabbing her shoulders and turning her fully to face you. “Dad?”
“Chaya, listen. There are always going to be new challenges on the horizon, new threats and obstacles to overcome. But that doesn't mean we lose sight of the current threat.” you tell her seriously. “That monster is still a threat to our entire reality. We can't underestimate it.”
“You're right, Dad.” she says, taking a deep breath and sighing out, nodding once. “One threat at a time.”
“Exactly. You ready to go again?” you ask, Chaya nodding. Both of you leap back from one another, powering back up into your strongest forms. You in your Berserker God form, Chaya in her form beyond Blue, then adding her Kaio-Ken atop it. “Go!”
And at the go you both launch yourselves forward, sparring at full power once more. Giving your training everything you've got, now not only for your daughter's sake, but for your own as well. After this Tuffle bastard's dealt with, there will be another tournament not long after. It could be the same day, it could be in a few days, could even be in a few years, you're not entirely certain. But what you DO know is that you're going to be ready, you and Chaya both. Days pass, you both keeping to your previous training schedule you'd had for the past month before the Grand Priest's sudden appearance. However, the atmosphere inside has most definitely changed. Now, instead of the nameless, faceless future threats you'd been preparing her for, now you have a goal in mind. Whatever shape this next tournament takes, you'll be ready. You both will be ready.
