“Some of them, yes.” Strange confirmed. “Your mentioning of their realm is what prompted me to bring it up. There’s a possibility that you’ll become trapped there after entering the circle. And then there’s the grim prospect of wasting whole entire centuries, just standing in one place. The time dilation one experiences from those circles is woefully disorienting.”
Did…did he just say ‘whole entire centuries’?
“Lastly, and most importantly,” the sorcerer continued. “Never accept a gift from Fae that you don’t wholeheartedly trust. It’s best to pretend to accept it…and then destroy it later.”
“Wouldn’t that be…rude?”
Both Strange and Felicia shook their heads.
“You never know what they might give you. And whatever you do, DON’T thank them for the gift.” Black Cat cautioned you, her easygoing smile now replaced by a serious look.
“Absolutely! Never!” Strange agreed.
“Why not?” you asked.
The Sorcerer Supreme had a grave expression on his face. “Because thanking a fairy for something implies that you’re indebted to them. And owing a favor to a fairy is no laughing matter.”
“They can pretty much ask for anything in return. Be sure to keep that in mind, spider.” Felicia warned.
You nodded and rubbed your hands together nervously. “Alright. Got it. Don’t mess around with fairies, don’t be mean to them, and don’t trust them. That about cover it?”
Strange sighed. “Well, it’s a start. Personally, I can’t for the life of me figure out why anyone would willingly interact with such creatures, but you are your own man. All I can do is advise caution and minimize the damage should you not heed my warnings.” he said with some resignation.
The tall man stepped aside to allow you to take the box back, not making any move to stop you. This guy was far more reasonable and patient than you expected him to be, despite having been abruptly woken from his sleep. Maybe you just caught him on a good day.
“If I started growing these and selling ‘em, would you want a regular supply?” you suggested. “If not, I’m sure you could at least pass the word along to your friends and see if they’re interested.”
The sorcerer stroked his beard thoughtfully and began to pace around the table.
“I don’t think I’ll have much use for them myself. I’m more likely to forget about them and let them wilt before I can make proper use of them. Although, I’m sure that a potent preservation spell would solve that problem.” he muttered to himself, before shaking his head and remembering that there were other people in the room. “If you’re looking to grow and sell those flowers, then I might know a few individuals that would be willing to partake in your services.”
You smiled broadly, perfectly aware that no one could see the goofy grin on your face through your dark mask.
