His land shall revert to the Duke in faroff Rittersbach and we shall be able to operate with more liberty than we could previously.’’ A deep, baritone voice said, his physical features having been obstructed by the darkness and his hood.
‘’But what if the Duke comes here? What does he find out? What will we do then? Murdering an important noble is one thing, we can’t possibly stand up to the weight of a nation.’’ A nasal tenor said.
‘’If it comes to that, we shall go to the cemetery of the village of Rosseln nearby. There we will escort ourselves to the border with an army of the dead.’’
The realisation had begun to creep in from the moment you heard the word cemetery, one that was only confirmed when you heard the words ‘’army of the dead’’ These men are necromancers! Or at the very least a magic circle that is willing to violate the sanctions of the magics, the law of the church that regulates the use of the arcane and has been copied by nearly every state that follows the faith. Raising the dead is punished with death, as not too many people are fond of seeing the corpse of their grandma walking about.
You lean back to converse with Wolfgerus and the ranger sergeant.
‘’We can form a half circle, draw our bows and then charge into melee to finish them off.’’ The sergeant said.
‘’That could work, yes, from what I sense only one member of the eight or ten people can truly use magic. The others are not capable of it; only three of them have the connection, and only one can actually use it. But, If we use the bows I am afraid that if we don’t kill the leader in the initial barrage that it will be a lot bloodier, I can instead attempt to *ahem* give their leader a little shock before we truly lose the element of surprise.’’
All good suggestions you suppose. A barrage of arrows would take out most of the enemies while Wolfgerus could kill the only real mage before he could retaliate.
