Your blade pierces the air like a bullet, twisting into a pirouette of steel catching light into the wolf's head. Your sword finds purchase into it's forehead--though, without the full strength of your blade arm at its back, catches on a plate in the beast's skull. The blade stops short and forces you to leap back.
The wolf staggers, stooping low, blood seeping from its forehead as it tries to shake your attack off. You may have been unable to bring the battle to a decisive end, but the attack was effective nonetheless. You have the chance now to slay it while it's guard is low, with either a shot in the throat or a blade through the eye.
And yet.. you still get the sense that something is off, despite the beast falling low. A worrying prickling on the back of your neck. A feeling of something in the air.
>Go for your fatal blow.
